This is the initial post of the Grey Shaman Books monthly blog, a space dedicated to exploring our themes of race, disability and dissent. This blog will explore books, events and thought on a number of topics, including:
psychology
religion
politics
economics
culture
A little about me: I'm Helen, the sole proprietor of Grey Shaman Books and founder of Grey Shaman Consulting and Fiery Five. I'm the author of seven books and the creator of seminars like Soul Retrieval for Psychosis and Intersectionality and the Healing Arts. Fiery Five is my by-subscription music e-newsletter, with five fiery indie tracks from the best artists in the industry in every email.

A Space for Open Thought
I'm committed to creating a space for open thought that is responsible and socially aware. In our culture, it's rare to find a safe space for civil dialogues on subjects that matter to our social contract. Community-building is my goal here at Grey Shaman Books, and it is my hope that you will find hope and strength within these pages.
In the future, I plan to delve into the realm of literary fiction as I continue to explore my writing mission.
Characteristics of Literary Fiction
Character-Driven Narratives: Unlike genre fiction, which often prioritizes plot, literary fiction delves deep into the psyche of its characters. Readers are invited to explore their motivations, fears, and desires.
Exploration of Themes: Common themes include identity, morality, and the human condition. These stories often challenge readers to reflect on their own lives.
Artful Prose: The writing style is often more poetic and nuanced, with a focus on language and imagery.
